Team Carrigan, we need you more than ever! Unfortunately, my cancer keeps progressing in both lungs.

I have exhausted all of my options in Boston. I am going to be starting a “bridge chemo” in the meantime and then a very intense CAR T Cell clinical trial in North Carolina. I will be frequently traveling back and forth to NC for the initial phase of the trial for tests and to harvest my cells which will be re engineered over 4-6 weeks to attack the cancer cells (see trial explanation on next slide). I then will be quarantined in NC for 5-6 weeks during which time serious side effects and potential complications are anticipated and will be managed with frequent hospitalizations. The trial is not a free trial and may not be covered by my insurance because it is “out of network.” If coverage is allowed – it is only partial coverage for a Phase I trial. We are working on logistics and my mom is trying to relocate her MS care, including her bi-weekly antibody infusions) to NC. We are determining our expenses for the trial, food, lodging, gas, flights for my parents, lost wages, etc. All of this is so stressful but I am determined more than ever to keep fighting! I am continually saddened and frustrated by the lack of curative options for this aggressive disease. I have watched countless families say goodbye to their young fighters and I have lost so many friends in the cancer community.
